Ventana Chapter hosts Fort Ord Workshop
June 2012
On June 2, the Ventana Chapter co-hosted a workshop with the Fort Ord Reuse Authority (FORA) to inform the public about the ongoing reassessment of the 4-volume plan which guides the long-term conversion of the former Army base to civilian use. Tom Moore, chair of the Chapter's FORA subcommittee, explained the history of Sierra Club's involvement with Fort Ord, focusing on a 1998 settlement agreement between FORA and the Sierra Club which limits development of the former base's 28,000 acres. A copy of Sierra Club's recommendations for reassessment of the plan is contained in this PDF.
