Chapter Members Meet with CSUMB President Eduardo Ochoa April 2013 By Justin Ebrahemi Ventana Chapter Executive Committee members this month met with California State University Monterey Bay's new president, Dr. Eduardo Ochoa for a friendly introduction to the region. The president, originally from Buenos Aries, Argentina has worked as an engineer, academic administrator, and Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education in the Obama Administration. At the meeting, Dr. Ochoa discussed the university's role as part of the Fort Ord Reuse Authority, noting that he hoped to foster productive discussion among developers and environmentalists. The Sierra Club and CSUMB both share a vision of taking advantage of Monterey's unique landscapes for future conservation efforts, including wilderness protection and thoughtful development at the former military base. The Ventana Chapter looks forward to maintaining an open dialogue with Dr. Ochoa and CSUMB, as our common interests will yield a fruitful future for Monterey. [ top of page ] |
