Jonathan Libby joins Open Space Alliance as new director Jonathan Libby, a long time Santa Cruz resident and UCSC graduate, joined the staff of the Open Space Alliance (OSA) in mid-November as its new Executive Director. Libby is also a founding Board Member and currently Board President of the Ventana Wilderness Alliance, as well as a past president of the Statewide Board of the California Native Plant Society. “Libby’s skills and experience in the local business community over the past 21 years, as well as his extensive knowledge of the Central Coast region and his environmental commitment, will be valuable assets in furthering the work of the Open Space Alliance,” said Celia Scott, current OSA Chair. “We are delighted to have Jon as part of our land preservation team.” The Open Space Alliance has just completed a two-year plan with the support of the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County. A top priority for OSA in the coming year is to move forward on a proposed 142-acre addition to the Forest of Nisene Marks State Park, a joint project of the Open Space Alliance and Nisene 2 Sea—a community group dedicated to creating public access from Nisene Marks State Park to the beaches of Monterey Bay. The Open Space Alliance and the Sierra Club share office space in downtown Santa Cruz. Teresa Malone, the previous OSA Executive Director, resigned in November for family reasons. Her excellent work was greatly appreciated by the OSA Board.
