Groups appeal Merced River Plan Friends of Yosemite Valley and Mariposans for Environmentally Responsible Growth filed an appeal in late September on Judge Anthony Ishii’s ruling on Yosemite’s Merced River Management Plan. Biologist Dr. Susan Sanders observed, “I was disappointed to find that the Park Service’s Merced River Plan fails to show the extent or nature of the Merced River’s important biological resources. Without such knowledge this Plan cannot and has not provided for their protection.” The groups are seeking protection for the Merced under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.
